He said this while talking to media personnel at the Election Commission in Agargaon on Thursday. He said that elections are not being organized at that time because educational institutions have annual examinations in November-December.

EC Anwarul said that due to floods, various matters, including the postponement of students' examination schedules, have to be taken into consideration. Alongside, plans are being made to organize elections taking into consideration the schedules of Ramadan, Eid, Puja, and SSC-HSC examinations.

He said that although the Election Commission had earlier announced a possible date, it has been reconsidered due to the start of annual examinations in educational institutions. It is hoped that local government elections will begin in January.

Claiming that the election date was not postponed due to any pressure from the government, he said that the Election Commission determines dates by considering realities, law, and constitutional matters.
