Forensic report not received even eight months after exhumation

At a press conference at a newspaper office in Pabna city on Thursday (September 24), they alleged that even though nearly 15 months have passed since the murder and eight months since the exhumation of the body, none of the accused in the case has been arrested. They also claimed that the accused are moving around openly and threatening them.

Nafiul was a student of the Department of Pharmacy at Gono Bishwabidyalay. On the morning of June 9 last year, his parents found his body at their home in Dighulia village of Faridpur. The family alleged that he was strangled to death by his uncle and cousins due to a dispute over land.

Later, Nafiul's mother Nasima Akter filed a murder case in court naming six people as accused. In the interest of the investigation, Nafiul's body was exhumed from the grave on January 27 this year on the court's order.

Nafiul's father Rezaul Karim said he is being threatened with murder by the accused side. He demanded the swift arrest of the accused, publication of the forensic report, and punishment of the real culprits through submission of the charge sheet.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Manzurul Alam Masud of Faridpur Police Station said higher authorities have been urged to provide the forensic report. Measures are being taken after a GD was filed regarding the threats. He said he had newly joined the post and would look into the details of the case.

However, the main accused in the case, Ibrahim Hossain, denied the victim's family's allegations. He claimed that they do not know how Nafiul died. The matter will be proved in court.
