He said this at a view-exchange meeting with local journalists at the Sylhet Circuit House on Thursday afternoon. Expressing dissatisfaction over the country's law and order situation, he claimed that although the government says law and order is better than before, in reality there is concern about people's security.

Raising the issue of a recent murder, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that it is not right to evade responsibility for the failure of the law and order situation and blame the victim. At the same time, he also mentioned various statements by leaders of the ruling party regarding the arms and drug trade.

Denying allegations of vandalism and arson centering on the opposition party's program, the Jamaat Amir said that those who create fire and violence to foil peaceful programs are responsible for these incidents.

He called upon the government to refrain from politically vindictive statements and take an effective role in establishing the rule of law, discipline and public safety in the country.

Leaders of Sylhet district and metropolitan Jamaat and journalists from various local media were present at the meeting.
