On Thursday (September 24), letters were sent to the administrators of all Upazila Parishads and Upazila Nirbahi Officers of the country in this regard. Instructions were given to install solar power panels taking into consideration the permanent sheds of hats and bazaars and the roofs of various buildings constructed by LGED.

Order to install solar power in all hats and bazaars of the country
The instructions said that after meeting the demand of the concerned institution with the generated electricity, the surplus electricity must be supplied to the national grid through net metering. According to the ‘Net Metering Guidelines, 2025’, Tk 10.50 will be received per unit of electricity.
In addition, instructions have been given to install rooftop solar power systems with batteries on existing buildings of departments, agencies, and institutions under the Local Government Division. These systems must have at least two hours of battery backup.

The letter further said that, according to the ‘Hat and Bazaar (Establishment and Management) Rules, 2025’, the solar power system must be installed and expanded using the specified 20 percent of the lease income of hats and bazaars.
Instructions have also been given to sign contracts on non-judicial stamp paper with the institution installing the solar power panels for repair and maintenance for the next 20 years. It has been instructed to ensure the installation of solar power systems in all hats and bazaars within the stipulated time.
