Around 2:30 pm on Saturday (September 26), Abu Jafar Surya was detained. Later, he was taken to Paltan Police Station in a police van. In his own Facebook post, Surya claimed that while performing professional duties at JSD's representative council, he and several others were handcuffed and taken away.

Police claim that more than a hundred leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organizations, whose activities are banned, were detained from the JSD office. Police said that after a flash procession in Dhanmondi, many took shelter at the JSD office.
Earlier, around 12 noon, several crude bombs exploded from that procession in Dhanmondi. Later, police said they conducted an operation and detained three people from Dhanmondi and one from Mohammadpur with hand bombs.

According to police, after receiving information that a large number of people had gathered at the JSD office, police went there. Around 4 pm, the detainees were brought out one by one in handcuffs and taken to Paltan Police Station. Police members at the scene said that after verification there, legal action would be taken against them.
No immediate comment was available from any senior police officer regarding the detainees.
