On Saturday (26 September), after the inauguration ceremony of the Sylhet Metropolitan Businessmen's Association in South Surma, while responding to journalists' questions, he said the Prime Minister's UN visit includes about 11 bilateral meetings and 30 programmes. He hopes these programmes will have a positive impact on the country's trade and investment.

Regarding the impact of the global war situation, the minister said it is difficult to specify its impact because the situation is changing. Due to the adjustment of fuel oil prices, work is underway to further strengthen and smooth the supply system to reduce the impact on commodity prices. At the same time, steps are being taken to prevent unreasonable price hikes and supply disruptions.

At the event, the Commerce Minister announced the establishment of an AI training centre in Sylhet. Saying that the matter had been discussed with the ICT Minister, he said opportunities will be created to involve the youth of Sylhet in freelancing and the ICT sector through training.

He emphasised communication systems and law and order for improving the investment environment in Sylhet. He also mentioned initiatives to upgrade the Sylhet-Dhaka highway to six lanes and improve rail communication, as well as installing advanced technology CCTV across the city.

The minister said investment and development are not possible without a sense of security. The government is working to build Sylhet as a more livable and attractive city for investment, business and tourism.
