He said this to journalists on Saturday (September 26) after inspecting the waste management and power generation project of the Rohingya camp in Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar.

The State Minister said the government wants to convert waste into resources by generating electricity and organic fertilizer from it, alongside removing waste. There are plans on how the ongoing activities in the camp can be applied in other areas of the country.

In a project at Camp-2 West funded by the World Bank, about 70 kilowatts of electricity is being generated by processing plastic waste. The generated electricity is being added to the national grid. Electricity is also being generated from solar panels.

In the project, organic fertilizer is also being produced from other waste, which is distributed among the Rohingyas. Electricity generation from plastic waste began on August 18 last, and currently the project operates for about six hours every day.

Later, the State Minister inspected another project established in the Camp-4 (Extended) area with funding from the Asian Development Bank. There, he inquired about the activities of producing electricity, organic fertilizer, coal, and treated water from waste.
