Moulvibazar will be developed as a model district: Labour Minister

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at an exchange meeting on law and order and development coordination at the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Moulvibazar on Sunday.

The minister said proposals raised at the meeting will be reviewed and implemented on a priority basis. Local problems will be identified by holding exchange meetings with officials and ordinary people at the upazila level in phases.

Mentioning improvement of the law and order situation as his first priority, he said if law and order remains normal, the environment for development and investment will become more dynamic. To control drugs, terrorism and crime, the administration, law enforcement agencies, public representatives, media and people must work in a coordinated manner.

He further said effective steps will be taken to develop educational institutions, road communication and basic infrastructure. He also emphasized young people acquiring foreign language and technical skills to take advantage of overseas employment opportunities.

At a briefing with journalists, the minister said a policy decision had been made to form a task force at the district level to control drugs. He also said the administration and law enforcement agencies have been instructed to remain alert regarding the law and order situation and the activities of banned political parties.
