On Tuesday, after paying homage at the graves of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, he said these while talking to journalists.

Gayeshwar Chandra Roy said, Awami League will be confronted politically, but there is no plan to engage in direct conflict with them. He also said BNP is working with the aim of reestablishing multi-party democracy, freedom and sovereignty.

Referring to the political changeover on August 5, he said that the then government was forced to give up power in the face of the movement. However, he remarked that although many Awami League leaders left, some people ‘bearing their character’ have remained in the country.

Gayeshwar alleged that attempts are underway in some places to create instability in public life and hinder the progress of democracy through various activities, including cocktail explosions. He called for identifying those involved in such activities and bringing them under the law.

He said that BNP leaders and activists at all levels are beside the people and the democratic progress will not be allowed to be hindered. He called on the administration to play a responsible role in ensuring people's safety, as well as urged everyone to remain aware.
