According to Saudi Ministry of Interior data, among those arrested, 6,593 violated the residency law, 3,531 violated the border security law, and 3,504 violated the labor law.

However, no separate figure has been given in the information published by Saudi authorities on how many of the 12,628 deported are Bangladeshis.

Meanwhile, 1,197 people were arrested while trying to enter Saudi Arabia illegally. Among them, 63 percent are Ethiopians, 36 percent Yemenis, and 1 percent citizens of other countries.

Another 18,549 people staying in Saudi Arabia have been sent to their respective countries' embassies to collect travel documents. Currently, legal proceedings are underway against 31,398 people.

Saudi authorities have said strict measures are also being taken against those who help, transport, shelter, or employ illegal entrants. These crimes carry provisions for imprisonment of up to 15 years and fines of up to 1 million Saudi riyals.
