He said this in reply to journalists' questions after a meeting with the Executive Committee of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

The state minister said that alongside online news portals, pages run on social media in the name of media are also under the government's consideration. An inter-ministerial meeting is discussing the matter, and consultations are being held with relevant parties to take necessary measures.

Emphasizing the setting of an acceptable definition of a journalist, he said a decision on this matter will be made only after discussions with journalist organizations, editors, and concerned parties. He also remarked that specific criteria are needed for the benefits and facilities of the Journalists' Welfare Trust.

Yaser Khan Chowdhury also said the government is working to set a minimum wage structure for television journalists. He said discussions are ongoing with the relevant ministry on implementing the new wage board and ensuring salaries and allowances for media workers.
