They said these things at a review meeting of the ministry's Annual Development Programme (ADP) for fiscal year 2026-2027 at the Chittagong Hill Tracts Complex on Bailey Road in Dhaka on Tuesday (September 29). Ministry Secretary Mohammad Mizanur Rahman chaired the meeting.
At the meeting, the financial and physical progress of projects being implemented in the current fiscal year was reviewed. It was informed that the ADP has a total allocation of Tk 964.64 crore, including GoB and project aid.
Minister Saching Pru emphasized the sustainable development of tourism and agriculture in the hills. He spoke about taking initiatives to expand coffee, cashew, and red mushroom cultivation and water conservation, in addition to increasing parking, washroom, and transit facilities in Sajek Valley.
State Minister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin emphasized making hill students equal to those in the plains through e-learning and modern education. He also called for taking tourism and employment-generating projects while supplying safe drinking water, installing solar panels, and protecting the environment in remote areas.
Chairman of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board Major General (retd.) Anup Kumar Chakma, chairmen of the three hill district councils, and senior officials of the ministry, development board, and related departments were present at the meeting.
