He said, to prosper marginal farmers, initiatives have been taken to build fisheries and livestock-based farms alongside excavating canals. There is a goal to turn beneficiaries into farmers in the future through rearing heifer calves.
He said this while speaking as chief guest at a ceremony to distribute heifer calves and animal feed among beneficiary farmers from the riverine char areas of Manikganj, Dhaka, Munshiganj, Rajbari, Faridpur, Madaripur and Shariatpur at the hall room of Daulatpur Upazila Parishad.
The state minister said various initiatives, including canal excavation, have been taken to improve the living standards of marginalized people. Through these programmes, small farmers will be able to increase production and make themselves economically self-reliant.
At that time, he also spoke about the country's political situation and called upon leaders and activists to remain united and vigilant.
At the event, Member of Parliament for Manikganj-1 constituency S A Jinnah Kabir, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Md. Imam Uddin Kabir, Director General of the Department of Livestock Md. Shahjaman Khan, and concerned officials were present. At the end of the event, heifer calves and animal feed were distributed among 25 beneficiaries.
