The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the deadline for submitting online VAT returns for the July and August 2026 tax periods until October 15. No penalty will be imposed if returns are submitted within the stipulated time.

On Thursday (October 1), an order in this regard was issued by NBR's VAT Monitoring, Statistics and Coordination Branch.

The order said that, according to the National Budget 2026-27, the amended rules for VAT return filing allow returns to be filed even after the end of three tax periods. For this reason, many establishments did not file the July and August returns in the e-VAT system.
