On Friday, a case was filed against him at the Airport Police Station on charges of creating disorder at the airport, obstructing government work, and harassing security personnel. The case was filed by the airport's security officer Md. Shahriar Alam Sajib.
In the case, allegations have been brought under Sections 186, 189, 294, 323, 352, 353, 504, and 506 of the Penal Code. The court has ordered the investigation report into the case to be submitted by next November 10. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Albiruni Mir issued the order.
According to the FIR of the case, on the morning of last October 1, due to the rush of passengers on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight arriving from Medina, a shortage of trolleys occurred in the area of luggage belt No. 8 at the airport. This caused tension among passengers due to the delay in getting luggage.
When the airport's executive director, Group Captain S M Ragib Samad, went to the scene to control the situation, Akhtaruzzaman insulted and threatened him, the FIR alleged. Later, when the protocol assistants accompanying him recorded video in a restricted area, security officers stopped them.
At that time, Akhtaruzzaman behaved indecently with security supervisor Warrant Officer Mohammad Kamal Uddin, abused him, and physically assaulted him, the case alleged. In addition, allegations were made of throwing away passengers' bottles of Zamzam water and behaving aggressively with a representative of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
It may be mentioned that on December 13, 2025, Akhtaruzzaman joined Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.
