The incident occurred on Saturday as he was being put into a prison van after a hearing at the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court in Dhaka. Video footage showed police personnel wearing helmets and safety vests putting him into the van. At that time, standing at the door, he chanted slogans directed at media workers and the public present.

Detective police arrested him from his home in a case filed over protests against passenger suffering and mismanagement at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Later, he was brought to court under heavy security for remand and bail hearings.
After the hearing, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Al Biruni Mir granted one-day remand for Major (retd.) Akhtaruzzaman.
