He said this on Sunday at the opening ceremony of the nationwide dengue prevention awareness week at Madhubag field in the capital.
Shafiqur Rahman said, if people's safety and peace cannot be ensured, responsibility should be given to those who can ensure it. Expressing concern over the law and order situation in the capital and across the country, he also mentioned the poor condition of various institutions, including the health sector.
Raising allegations of harassment of Jamaat's members of parliament at Shahjalal Airport, he claimed that the case filed against retired Major Akhtaruzzaman was ‘false’. He said Akhtaruzzaman did not lay hands on anyone, and the allegations brought against him are also ‘a thousand times false’. He called on people at home and abroad to look into the matter seriously.
Expressing concern over the dengue situation, the Jamaat Amir said they view dengue as ‘pandemic-like’. For this reason, an awareness program has been undertaken to prevent dengue, and he said they will play a role in disease prevention.
