Commerce Minister wants to advance FTA talks with Turkey

At a meeting with Turkey's Ambassador to Dhaka Ramiz Sen at the Ministry of Industries on Monday, these issues were discussed. The meeting also raised expanding economic relations between the two countries, business contacts in fruit imports, and Bangladesh's participation in international trade conferences.

Reviewing the progress of FTA discussions, Khandaker Abdul Muktadir expressed interest in meeting with the country's Commerce Minister and investment agencies during an upcoming visit to Turkey. Discussions were also held on conveying information about Turkish exporters to Bangladeshi businessmen for fruit imports.

At the meeting, discussions were held on the possibility of utilizing Turkey's experience in hazardous waste management in the electronics and ship-breaking industries. The issue of cooperation in specialized facilities or TSDF systems for waste treatment, storage and disposal also came up.

Besides, discussions were also held on the leather industry, the COMCEC ministerial-level conference, and Bangladesh's participation in the World Halal Industrial Summit and Halal Expo. The meeting expressed hope for further strengthening trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
