Uncertainty over new pay scale for MPO-listed teachers

Relevant sources have said preparations are underway to pay October salaries according to the new pay scale. At the same time, arrears for the previous three months will also be paid. However, it may take more time to bring MPO-listed teachers and employees under the new structure.

According to relevant sources at the Ministry of Finance, the process is taking time because a part of the salary system for MPO-listed teachers is still not fully digital. Especially in the case of calculating salaries for madrasas and technical educational institutions, work has to be done manually.

On September 23, Abdul Malek, president of the Bangladesh Government Officers and Employees Welfare Association, demanded that a notification be issued promptly to include more than six lakh MPO-listed teachers and employees in the new pay structure. Earlier, on September 1, Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon said that MPO-listed teachers and employees would also be brought under the new pay structure.

Currently, more than six lakh teachers and employees in the country are under the MPO system. They are awaiting the government decision and notification for inclusion in the new pay scale.
