Personal attacks on the Khatib of the National Mosque are undesirable: National Ulama Alliance
Following the recent remarks by Mufti Abdul Malek, Khatib of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, regarding Jamaat-e-Islami, the National Ulama Alliance, an affiliate organization of the National Citizen Party (NCP), commented that personally attacking and insulting him is undesirable.

On Monday (October 5), the organization's spokesperson Mufti Rafiqul Islam Aini said this in a statement. The statement said that Mufti Abdul Malek has long been contributing to the field of Islamic scholarship. If there is disagreement with his remarks, it should be answered with logic, evidence, and decency.

Mufti Rafiqul Islam Aini said that religious and political viewpoints are not the same thing. Due to political differences, one should not deny any scholar's scholarly position or religious statements. He also called for caution so that political allegiance does not become a substitute for scholarly judgment.

The statement mentioned BNP and NCP as centrist political parties and Jamaat-e-Islami as an Islamic political party. However, it also mentioned that joining politics does not mean a scholar surrenders his knowledge, independence, or principled position to party politics.

Recently, at a mahfil, Mufti Abdul Malek made remarks about Jamaat-e-Islami and Maulana Mamunul Haque in the context of establishing Islam. He criticized alliance or political involvement with Jamaat and said that ‘Haq’ should be given priority over any relationship.
