Algeria urged to recruit skilled manpower, including doctors and nurses

The Home Minister said these things during a courtesy meeting with Algeria's Ambassador to Bangladesh, Dr. Abdel Wahab Saidani, at the Secretariat on Monday.

At the meeting, various issues of mutual interest were discussed, including security cooperation, prevention of human trafficking, migration management, expansion of trade and commerce, and legal cooperation. Emphasis was placed on training, joint workshops and exchange of legal assistance to enhance the capacity of security forces.

Besides, discussions were also held on initiatives for long-term LNG and fertilizer imports to Bangladesh at the government-to-government (G2G) level. According to both sides, these initiatives will play a role in further strengthening the commercial relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Dr. Abdel Wahab Saidani said that after Bangladesh became independent in 1971, Algeria was the first Arab country to recognize Bangladesh. He also expressed interest in further strengthening the historical friendship between the two countries.

The meeting also discussed the legal matter of an Algerian citizen under trial in Bangladesh. Advising that an application be made to the court in accordance with the rules, the Home Minister assured necessary legal cooperation in this regard. At the same time, mentioning the acceptance of the invitation for the Algerian President to visit Bangladesh, he stressed setting a convenient diplomatic date.
