Weekly holiday on October 17 cancelled ahead of Puja

The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tareq Rahman at the Secretariat on Monday (October 5). In the same meeting, a proposal for an additional day of public holiday on Thursday, October 22, on the occasion of Durga Puja was approved.

According to the public holiday schedule, there are holidays on October 20 for Maha Navami and October 21 for Bijoya Dashami. Together with the additional holiday on October 22 and the weekly holidays on the following two days, there will be a five-day consecutive holiday from October 20 to 24.

To make up for this holiday, government officials and employees will have to perform their regular duties on Saturday, October 17. On that day, the operations of offices and courts will continue normally.

This year, the Durga Puja ceremonies will begin with Mahalaya on October 10. Maha Shashthi will be observed on October 16, Maha Saptami on October 18, Maha Ashtami on October 19, Maha Navami on October 20, and Bijoya Dashami on October 21.
