After inaugurating a cricket academy in Sreemangal, Moulvibazar on Tuesday, he told journalists that before constructing new infrastructure, the government is giving priority to making existing fields and stadiums usable.
The state minister said opportunities for various sports including football, cricket, swimming, volleyball, table tennis, chess, archery, shooting and hockey will be created in district stadiums. For this, a project has been undertaken to modernize district stadiums across the country, and necessary activities, including preparing the DPP, are underway.
He said initiatives have been taken to build playgrounds up to the union level and futsal or small grounds at the ward level of cities. Through sports, opportunities for talent development will be created alongside keeping young people away from drugs and harmful activities. An initiative has also been taken to include sports-related textbooks from Class IV in the next curriculum.
He also said district and upazila administrations have been instructed to free illegally occupied playgrounds, including the railway ground in Moulvibazar, and make them suitable for sports.
Highlighting the goal of good results in international competitions, Aminul Haque said programs have been undertaken for long-term training and creating talented players for medals in promising sports. Later, he inspected the proposed site for constructing a mini stadium in Sreemangal.
