20 million children under measles vaccination, another 3.5 million to be vaccinated in a month

He said this at an event organized on Wednesday (October 7) on the occasion of the measles-rubella vaccination campaign.

The State Minister for Health said, it is the government's goal that not a single child is left out of the vaccination programme. For this reason, this year's programme has been taken as a ‘mop-up campaign’. Under it, children in inaccessible areas, char areas and remote regions, children with disabilities, and children left out in the previous phase are being traced and vaccinated.

He said, through the combined efforts of the Ministry of Health, local government, city corporations and field-level health workers, it has been possible to bring 20 million children under vaccination. Work is underway with the goal of vaccinating another nearly 3.5 million children in the next month.

Noting that the US government, Gavi and UNICEF, among various organizations, are cooperating in the vaccination programme, the State Minister said, efforts are being made to reach children from inaccessible hilly areas to remote char areas.

Mentioning public health as the government's highest priority, he said, no matter how many obstacles arise, the government's health-related commitments will be implemented with the cooperation of domestic and foreign institutions and health workers.
