He made the call during a meeting with a delegation led by Essa Kazim, Chairman of the Board of Directors of international logistics company DP World, at the Secretariat on Thursday evening. At that time, discussions were held on expanding trade and investment between Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates, port management, and development of the logistics sector.
At the meeting, discussions were also held on a 15-year agreement signed between Bangladesh and DP World for the operation and modernization of Chattogram Container Terminal. According to the agreement, the company will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the terminal and its additional container yard.
When the Prime Minister inquired about DP World's interest in new investments in Bangladesh, the delegation expressed interest in cooperation and investment in various sectors, including free trade zones and rail-based container depots.
Assistant Press Secretary to the Prime Minister AKM Nazmul Haque said that the meeting also exchanged views on the potential for developing Bangladesh's port infrastructure, expanding regional trade, and making the logistics system more modern and efficient.
