He said these things in his speech as chief guest at a discussion meeting titled ‘The madrasa education system in the grip of conspiracy and the responsibility and duty of the ulama-e keram in preserving the tradition of Qawmi madrasas’ organized by Bangladesh Madrasa Association (BMA) at the Jahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall of the National Press Club on Sunday.
Muhiuddin Rabbani alleged that propaganda is being carried out against the madrasa education system through social media and various channels, and attempts are underway to tarnish the honor of scholars and create distance among them centering on isolated incidents. He said that Islamic educational institutions have long been playing a role in protecting the country's moral and religious values.
Emphasizing ensuring the quality of madrasa education and a safe environment, he said that if any unwanted incident occurs in any institution, no one will be spared. Legal action must be taken as necessary and monitoring of the institution's activities must be increased.
In his speech, he demanded repeal of the Heba law passed in Parliament and, in his words, called for withdrawal of the anti-Shariah law. At the same time, he reiterated the demand to declare Qadianis non-Muslims at the state level.
At the meeting, speakers emphasized the united role of scholars, madrasa administrators, and conscious citizens in protecting the distinct characteristics, historical contributions, institutional rights, and dignity of madrasa education. According to them, if fears arise of confusion, discrimination, or unreasonable interference regarding madrasa education, a reasoned and principled stance must be taken.
Maulana Habibullah Miazi, Mufti Bashirullah, Maulana Azizul Haque Islamabadi, Mufti Ahmad Ali Qasemi, and scholars and representatives of various madrasas were present at the meeting.
