Dr. Shahadat Hossain appointed as full-time administrator of CCC

In a notification signed by Deputy Secretary Jewel Rana on the order of the President, it was stated that he has been appointed to this post under Section 4 of the Local Government (City Corporation) Amendment Act, 2026. He will perform the duties of administrator until a new corporation is formed or further instructions are issued. During this period, he will exercise the powers of the mayor as well as receive monthly remuneration and other allowances as per the rules.

Incidentally, Dr. Shahadat Hossain had filed a case seeking cancellation of the results of the CCC election held on 27 January 2021. After the July mass uprising, in a ruling on 1 October 2024, the court declared him the winning mayor. In continuation of this, the government has now appointed him as the administrator of CCC.
