DIG Mostafizur Rahman of the Police's Dhaka Range has warned that attempts to use workers' emotions as capital to destabilize the ready-made garment industry and the state will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He said strict legal action would be taken against those involved in creating sabotage, disorder and instability in the industrial areas.
He said this while talking to journalists after inspecting the security situation of various factories in Savar and Ashulia on Sunday (November 8).
DIG Mostafizur Rahman said that currently no negative situation has been reported anywhere in Savar, Ashulia, Gazipur and Narayanganj. Workers are entering the factories normally and continuing work at their respective workplaces.

He further said that a wage board was formed on the 1st of this month. The board has already held its first meeting and discussed various issues of workers. Discussions have also been held with workers in the Savar-Ashulia area; according to their statements, the ongoing movement is not theirs. The government is sufficiently sympathetic to the workers' demands and the current government is worker-friendly; it is working on their wages and benefits. Therefore, if the workers are not involved in the movement, there may be a conspiracy by a group seeking to create instability behind it.
He said that so far about 15 cases have been filed in Savar and Ashulia areas and more than a hundred people have been arrested in the area. He claimed that none of the arrested persons are workers; all are involved in creating crisis and instability. More than a hundred people have also been arrested in Gazipur and Narayanganj. The DIG remarked that those involved in these incidents are members of a special group that wants to destabilize the state as well as damage the industrial sector.
Regarding ensuring factory security, he said intelligence police and uniformed police members are active. Law enforcement agencies know who is behind these incidents and necessary measures are being taken against them. Sufficient police, BGB, APBn and industrial police have been deployed for the security of the industrial areas.
