‘Donald Trump’ beside deer-leopard in the zoo

‘Donald Trump’ placed beside deer and leopards at the zoo
The rare albino buffalo ‘Donald Trump’ has been kept in shed number 7 next to the gaur, barking deer, and leopard at Mirpur National Zoo.

‎The rare buffalo species that went viral worldwide has been taken under special conservation measures at the zoo on the instructions of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, initiated by the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock.

‎Officials said visitors will be able to see the buffalo resembling US President Trump from Thursday (May 28), the day of Eid.

‎The buffalo was brought to the National Zoo yesterday, Wednesday (May 27), with the intervention of the Ministry of Livestock. ‎Additionally, special arrangements have been made there for the safe preservation and proper care of the buffalo.

‎The process of bringing it to the zoo was supervised by State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku. He gave necessary instructions to the Department of Livestock to ensure round-the-clock medical care and treatment, along with preparing a large shed for the buffalo.

‎In a Facebook post late Wednesday night, State Minister Sultan Salauddin Tuku said that an exceptional event has been added to the history of Bangladesh's livestock and biodiversity today. A rare 'albino' species of buffalo has been brought to Dhaka's Mirpur National Zoo for preservation.

‎Tuku further wrote, according to experts, the buffalo exhibits such pinkish characteristics due to a deficiency of the pigment called 'melanin' in its body. Such animals are extremely rare worldwide.

Statistics show that only one in every 10,000 buffaloes may be born with such albino characteristics. Therefore, it is not only a rare animal but also a very important resource for research, conservation, and biodiversity protection.

‎He said, I have informed the Honorable Prime Minister about the matter. He has given instructions to take the initiative to preserve such rare animals seriously and emphasized continuing necessary activities to protect the country's biodiversity.

‎The albino buffalo was bought from Rajshahi 8 months ago and raised at Rabeya Agro Farm in Paikpara, Narayanganj city. As the buffalo's hair and eyes look very similar to those of US President Donald Trump, the farm owner Ziauddin Mridha's younger brother affectionately named it ‌‘Donald Trump’.
