Wage board to be formed tomorrow, no reason for workers to continue protests: Labour Minister
Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury said a wage board will be formed tomorrow, Sunday, to determine new wages for garment workers, so there is no reason for workers to remain in protests. He said this at a press briefing after a meeting with representatives of BGMEA and BKMEA at the Labour Building in the capital today, Saturday (31 October).

The Minister said that after long discussions with workers' leaders yesterday, a decision was taken to form the wage board, and the owners have accepted it. Alongside, discussions were held on quickly paying workers' outstanding wages and paying salaries within the 7th of every month. He alleged that some people from outside are coming and provoking genuine workers. If factories are closed or vandalised, production and supply will be disrupted, and if the owners do not get money, there will also be a crisis in paying workers' wages.
