He made this call on Wednesday (July 8) at a discussion meeting titled 'The spirit of the July mass uprising, implementation of the referendum verdict, and the trial of the July genocide and crimes against humanity and our responsibility' organized by the 11-party alliance.

Shahidul Islam Bhuiyan said, 'I will call upon the Prime Minister—you too are oppressed. Your parents were patriots. If you implement the referendum verdict, you will be able to remain a great hero of history. As the father of a martyr, I am requesting from our place of pain, implement the referendum verdict without delay and remain a great hero before the nation.'

He further said, 'In July 2024, my son gave his life to free the country from autocracy. That time was the holy month of Muharram. The day after Ashura, on the 11th of Muharram, my son's life was taken. That month of Muharram has come again.'

He said, 'I want to remind those who are now in state power—the month of Muharram is very significant in Islamic history. You have come to state power through the sacrifice of young and tender lives in this month. Therefore, your responsibility is also the greatest.'

Referring to the phrase 'Our Responsibility' on the banner of the event, he said, 'Today, the government must be sincere in fulfilling its duty towards those through whose sacrifice you have come to state power.'

Recalling the death of his son Farhan Faiyaz, Shahidul Islam Bhuiyan said, 'On July 18, 2024, my only son Farhan Faiyaz was shot at Dhanmondi 27. He was a science student in the 11th grade at Dhaka Residential Model College. After Abu Sayed was killed in Rangpur on July 16, he joined the movement with his classmates and juniors.'

He claimed, 'He had been targeted since July 16. On July 18, he was shot in the chest. A single bullet took his life. Since that incident, our family has been in deep mental trauma. When July comes, that wound becomes even more intense.'

The seminar was chaired by the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Colonel (retd.) Dr. Oli Ahmed Bir Bikram, with the main guest being the Leader of the Opposition and Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman. Besides, leaders from various levels of the 11-party alliance participated in the event.
