This event, organized on the veranda of the shrine's Dargah Mosque, is being conducted by the management committee formed to determine the shrine's income and expenditure management. Those concerned said that the total amount of money found in the donation box will be officially announced after the counting is completed. Later, as before, the entire amount will be deposited in the bank.
Khondkar Abdul Muktadir is serving as the chairman of the shrine's income-expenditure management oversight committee. Members of the committee include Sylhet City Corporation Administrator Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury, Sylhet Development Authority Administrator Rezaul Hasan Kais Lodi, Divisional Commissioner Mashiur Rahman, District Council Administrator Abul Kaher Shamim, DIG of Sylhet Range, Commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, two members of the shrine's Mutawalli family, and two representatives from the shrine's madrasa and mosque. The Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet is serving as the member secretary of the committee.
Earlier, on June 22, a total of eight donation boxes, including four from the shrine and four more installed by the district administration, were opened publicly for the first time. On that day, cash amounting to Tk 17,65,549, seven ana of gold ornaments, and two Saudi riyals were found in the donation boxes.
Later, the then Deputy Commissioner Sarwar Alam provided a check of Tk 5 lakh from the district administration's fund. This brought the total amount to Tk 22,65,549.
