According to Indian media outlet NDTV, the earthquake was felt around 5:05 AM local time on Sunday. The tremors caused panic in various parts of Visakhapatnam for some time.
According to locals, mild tremors were felt in various parts of the city, including Gajuwaka, Mangalapalem, Sagar Nagar, Pedda Waltair, Arilova, MVP Colony, and Appughar.
India's Indian National Center for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) said that the magnitude 4.5 earthquake originating in the Bay of Bengal caused mild tremors in Visakhapatnam and surrounding areas.
Meanwhile, authorities said no tsunami warning was issued after the earthquake, and no information on casualties or significant damage has been received so far.
