China-India standoff at Arunachal border, ITBP chief's admission
Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor has said that face-offs with Chinese soldiers are continuing at multiple locations along the border of India's Arunachal Pradesh. This is the first official admission regarding the situation ongoing since last July.

In a speech addressed to ITBP soldiers in Alwar, Rajasthan, on Thursday, Shatrujeet Kapoor said work is underway to form drone platoons in all units of the force, provide special combat training and build underground infrastructure to deal with border challenges. Meanwhile, the opposition party Congress has criticized the government's silence and inaction over the border situation. It may be noted that after the bloody clash in the Galwan Valley in 2020, and then Doklam and eastern Ladakh, this time new tensions have arisen along the Arunachal border.
