On Sunday (July 12), they paid tribute by placing wreaths at Zia Park in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka. At that time, special prayers and munajat were held seeking forgiveness for the souls of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia.
During the tribute, Housing Minister Zakaria Taher was accompanied by Rajshahi Development Authority Chairman Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Sylhet Development Authority Chairman Rezaul Hasan Lodi, Mymensingh Development Authority Chairman Motahar Hossain Talukder, Comilla Development Authority Chairman Udbatul Bari Babu, Rangpur Development Authority Chairman Shamsuzzaman Samu, and Narayanganj Development Authority Chairman Mashukul Islam Rajib.
At that time, a large number of leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its various associate bodies were present.
It is noteworthy that under the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, six new development authorities have recently been formed: Sylhet, Mymensingh, Barisal, Comilla, Rangpur, and Narayanganj Development Authorities. The objectives of these authorities are to ensure planned urbanization in the respective regions, maintain the balance of the geo-natural environment and ecology, build disaster-resilient urban management, develop information technology and tourism industries, and expand improved civic amenities.
