On Sunday (July 12), he disclosed this information in a written reply to a question from Member of Parliament Md. Mahbubur Rahman (Belal) of Rangpur-3 constituency during the question-answer session held in the National Parliament under the chairmanship of Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed.
In his question, the MP wanted to know the total amount spent by the government on implementing various programs at the district and upazila levels, constructing photos and altars of Sheikh Mujib, installing bronze, copper and marble statues in government offices, and making digital time-counting boards at the state level on the occasion of 'Mujib Year'. He also asked whether the government would take any action regarding this huge expenditure.
In response, the Finance Minister said that all ministries and departments of the country have implemented various programs on the occasion of 'Mujib Year' celebrations. Under these programs, a total of Tk 982 crore 91 lakh 74 thousand has been spent on various sectors including arrangements at district and upazila levels, construction of photos and altars of Sheikh Mujib, installation of bronze, copper and marble statues in government offices, and making digital time-counting boards at the state level.
The Finance Minister also presented a copy of the 'Expenditure Statement on Mujib Year Celebrations' along with his written reply in Parliament.
