He said these things as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the Career Corner, established for the first time at the university's central library and information center, on Sunday (July 12) afternoon.
The Vice-Chancellor informed that initiatives have been taken to modernize the university's central library and information center by giving utmost importance to the needs of the students. The Career Corner, established with his personal funding, contains the latest competitive exam preparatory books, periodicals, and various career-related guidelines.
He said, “A library full of students is the greatest achievement for a Vice-Chancellor. We have increased various facilities to make students library-oriented. Air conditioning systems have been installed. In response to the long-standing demand of students, a Career Corner has been launched modeled on the Job Corner, which will help job-seeking students in their preparation.”
The Vice-Chancellor also highlighted the plan to build a world-class smart library. He said subscriptions to international standard e-journals and e-books will be added so that students can easily access the latest research in the world. Additionally, there are plans to increase the number of reference books, establish a dedicated high-speed Wi-Fi and computer-equipped IT zone, and keep the library open until 10 PM.
The event was presided over by the Chairman of the Department of Business Administration, Professor Dr. Md. Kamruzzaman, and was attended by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, teachers from various departments, officials, and students.
At the event, Professor Dr. Md. Kamruzzaman informed that initiatives have also been taken to distribute educational materials to various educational institutions around the university with the Vice-Chancellor's personal funding.
