On Monday (July 13), on the 23rd working day of the second and first budget session of the 13th National Parliament, Chief Whip Mohammad Nurul Islam presented the names of the committee members to the parliament. It was later approved by voice vote.

The Chief Whip informed that according to Rule 266 of the Rules of Procedure, an initiative was taken to form a 17-member committee comprising all political parties, alliances, and independent members represented in parliament. Although the opposition was contacted multiple times for this purpose, they did not submit the names of their members.

He said that a 12-member committee has been formed for now, leaving the five seats reserved for the opposition vacant. Later, if the opposition provides the names of their members, the committee will be reconstituted by including them.

Formed under Article 76 of the Constitution of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and Rule 266 of the Rules of Procedure of the National Parliament, this special committee will formulate recommendations on necessary amendments to the constitution and submit a report to the parliament.

Member of Parliament from Cox's Bazar-1 constituency, Salah Uddin Ahmed, has been made the chairman of the committee.

The other members of the committee are: Member of Parliament from Barguna-2 constituency Mohammad Nurul Islam, from Jhenaidah-1 constituency Mohammad Asaduzzaman, from Barisal-3 constituency Zainul Abedin, from Brahmanbaria-6 constituency Mohammad Jonayed Abdur Rahim Saki, from Bhola-1 constituency Andalib Rahman, from Patuakhali-3 constituency Mohammad Nurul Haque, from Chattogram-5 constituency Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, from Natore-1 constituency Farzana Sharmin, from Reserved Women's Seat-1 Shakila Farzana, from Sherpur-3 constituency Mohammad Mahmudul Haque Rubel, and from Barguna-1 constituency Mohammad Oliullah.
