Deal with Iran still possible: Trump

Trump said, ‘Just two days ago, we had a deal with them. Later, they said they couldn't do it right now and needed more talks.’

Recently, after the ceasefire broke down, there have been several rounds of attacks and counterattacks between the US and Iran. In this context, the Trump administration has announced new sanctions and port-related blockades against Iran.

Meanwhile, Trump also stated that the US would take responsibility for the security of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important energy transport routes.

In a telephone interview with Fox News, he said, ‘We will control the Strait of Hormuz, and possibly operate it. We will be its guardian, and we should be paid for carrying out this duty.’

He claimed that many of the countries using the Strait of Hormuz are economically prosperous. Therefore, they should not expect US security services for free, and the US should receive appropriate compensation for performing this duty.
