Government will invest in new ideas in startups, second chance even if they fail: Prime Minister
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said the government will work to develop new startup ideas in the country. Even if a promising venture fails the first time, it will be evaluated and entrepreneurs will be given a second round of financial support.

He said these things in response to various questions from young people at an event titled 'Youth, Startup and Bangladesh of Possibilities' at the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building of Dhaka University on Tuesday (July 14) morning.

The Prime Minister said that due to the lack of adequate employment opportunities in the country, many talented young people are going abroad. To reduce this trend, the government will provide necessary support to create new entrepreneurs and encourage innovative initiatives.

He informed that through the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) division, funding arrangements will be in place for innovative projects ranging from 5 lakh taka to 5 crore taka. The government's goal is to provide necessary support to promising startups and turn them into successful entrepreneurs.

The Prime Minister said that integrating the innovative capabilities of young people and women into the mainstream of the country's economic development is now one of the government's top priorities. Special importance is being given to startup and entrepreneurship development with the aim of creating employment, building a technology-based economy, and achieving sustainable growth.

He further informed that the startup sector has been given priority in the government's 2026 election manifesto. To this end, a startup fund of 500 crore taka has already been formed, which will play a supportive role in financing and business expansion for promising entrepreneurs.
