Case filed, 2 arrested over torture of three-month-old baby in Narsingdi
A case has been filed over the torture of three-month-old baby Rizik in Narsingdi. Police have arrested two people in this incident. However, the main accused, Lata Begum, remains absconding.

On Tuesday (July 14) night, the probation officer of Narsingdi District Probation Office, Riza Akhtar, filed the case as the plaintiff at Madhabdi Police Station.

Lata Begum has been made the main accused in the case. Additionally, her husband and the baby's uncle, Kausar Ahmed, and father-in-law, Almas Mia, have also been named as accused. Police have arrested Kausar Ahmed and Almas Mia.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madhabdi Police Station, Mohammad Kamal Hossain, said that two people were arrested immediately after the case was filed. A drive is underway to arrest the main accused, Lata Begum. The baby has been sent to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital for a physical examination.

Earlier on Tuesday, a video of the torture of three-month-old baby Rizik went viral on social media. After the video went viral, it sparked widespread discussion and criticism.

Investigation revealed that allegations of torture against the baby arose due to a family feud. The baby's father, Kauser Mia, said that the baby had been crying abnormally since birth. This made his wife, Sayeba Begum, suspect that someone might be torturing the baby in their absence.

Based on suspicion, the baby's mother recently left a mobile phone recording video secretly inside the room and went outside.

In the viral video, Lata Begum is seen entering the room while the baby is sleeping, twisting one of his legs forcefully, and quickly leaving. The baby is then seen crying.

Kauser Mia claimed that due to a family feud, his elder brother's wife, Lata Begum, used to torture the baby. The video recording was arranged to confirm the matter. He said that although the torture was captured in the video, the baby's leg was not broken.

Regarding this, OC Mohammad Kamal Hossain said that after the video spread on social media, police went to the spot and spoke with the baby's parents. They said the baby's leg was not broken. However, they alleged that the baby was tortured due to a family feud.

Police said the investigation into the case is ongoing and efforts to arrest the main accused continue.
