Quoting family members, the report further stated that the President is seriously ill. Recently, his CT scan and MRI tests at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) revealed neurological complications. In this situation, he wants to step down and go to Singapore with his wife for advanced treatment.
According to the Constitution of Bangladesh, if the President is unable to perform his duties, he submits his resignation to the Speaker of the National Assembly. If the President's post becomes vacant, the Speaker will serve as Acting President until a new President is elected and assumes office.
