On Wednesday (July 22), Google announced that the new system will allow for the transfer of more types of data than before, making setting up a new phone easier and hassle-free.
With the new feature, photos, videos, contacts, messages, calendar data, as well as Google account, saved passwords, Wi-Fi information, and eSIM can be transferred from iPhone to Android.
According to Google, this initiative has been taken to reduce the complexities users face when switching smartphones. At the same time, it also aims to encourage iPhone users to move to the Android ecosystem.
The company said the new migration feature has already been rolled out to select Pixel devices. It is also available on the newly unveiled Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 series.
Google further stated that this feature will be gradually added to more smartphones supporting Android 17.
