The minister made these remarks while responding to queries from journalists at an event held at CIRDAP in the capital on Saturday (July 25).
New President to be Elected in September Parliamentary Session: Law Minister
When questioned about the presidential election, he stated that the process of electing the new head of state will be completed through the National Parliament within the timeframe mandated by the constitution. Therefore, calling a special session is unnecessary.
Asked about potential legal cases against the recently outgoing President, Md. Shahabuddin, the law minister declined to make any comments at this time.

It is worth noting that Md. Shahabuddin assumed office as the 22nd President of Bangladesh on April 24, 2023. Constitutionally, his tenure was set to run until April 2028. However, he stepped down from his position before the completion of his term, citing health reasons.
Under the constitution, when the office of the President becomes vacant, the Speaker of the National Parliament assumes the role of acting President until a newly elected President takes charge. Following this provision, Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed is currently serving as the acting President.
