Discussion Arises Over 19 Spelling and Linguistic Inconsistencies in President's Resignation Letter

Critics point out that in the letter addressed to the Speaker, the Bengali word for 'Speaker' was spelled incorrectly as ‘স্পীকার’ instead of the standard ‘স্পিকার’, which does not align with conventional Bengali orthography. Similarly, in the phrase detailing his resignation, the repetition of the word 'post' (পদ) has been cited as a linguistic redundancy.

Furthermore, the use of the salutation ‘Shraddhajaneshu’ (শ্রদ্ধাজনেষু) has been called into question. According to critics, the conventional and dictionary-approved form is ‘Shraddhabhajaneshu’ (শ্রদ্ধাভাজনেষু).

In formatting the date, the phrase ‘24 April 2023 Khri. Soner’ was noted to contain redundancy, as both ‘Khri.’ (AD) and ‘Son’ (year) convey the same meaning. According to linguists, using either ‘24 April 2023 Khristabdo’ or ‘24 April 2023 Soner’ would be the grammatically appropriate choice.

Various other observations have surfaced regarding the inconsistent application of the words ‘Kon’ (কোন) and ‘Kono’ (কোনো), the incorrect spellings of ‘Porikkha’ (পরীক্ষা spelled as পরিক্ষা) and ‘Idaning’ (ইদানীং spelled as ইদানিং), the structural form of the word ‘Diabetes’, the orthographic construction of words like ‘Hridrog’ (heart disease) and ‘Hridjontro’ (heart), improper spacing in ‘Rog shomuher’ (diseases), the usage of the word ‘Oshomarthota’ (inability), and the general misplacement of punctuation marks.

Additionally, several formatting inconsistencies have been highlighted, such as the lack of proper spacing before and after parentheses, and the use of a Bengali full stop (Dari) even when the sentence was incomplete.

However, no official statement has been obtained from the President's Office or any relevant authority regarding these linguistic and orthographic flaws pointed out in the resignation letter. Similarly, no formal evaluation of these claims has yet been published by the Bangla Academy or any other authoritative language institution.
