Government wants to transform Bangladesh from a labor-dependent economy to a knowledge and innovation-dependent economy: Science and Technology Minister
The minister said these things today (Sunday, July 26) in his speech as the chief guest at the discussion titled 'Bangladesh Deep-Tech Future' on the second day of the two-day National Semiconductor Symposium and BEAR Summit 2026 at the Novotheatre in Dhaka.
In the discussion, the Science and Technology Minister called for giving importance to the 'Made in Bangladesh' brand in the innovation and export of technology products and technology services in the future.

At that time, assuring continued all kinds of cooperation in the development of the semiconductor and deep-tech sectors, he said that the country's youth are capable of leading this sector. The government will stand by the youth with innovative, research and policy support.
Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam further said that this BEAR Summit has proven that Bangladesh is not alone. Leading global technology companies, universities, industry leaders, expatriate Bangladeshis and experts are joining us. So it is not just a conference; it is the beginning of a movement.
Addressing the business leaders present at the event, the minister assured, "The current government is very business-friendly. You will find me by your side whenever needed. We will do everything necessary to create opportunities for you and accelerate the country's technological development."
Then in the global academic plenary session, the keynote paper was presented by Professor Dimitris Peroulis, Senior Vice President of Purdue University. Among those present at the event were Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology Md. Anwar Hossain, Professor Mohammad Mostafa Hossain, and from Purdue University and Chief Architect, Silicon River Bangladesh, Director General of Novotheatre Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan, among others.
