Foreign currency reserve rises to $36.46 billion

This information has been provided in the updated data of the Foreign Exchange Reserve and Treasury Management Department of Bangladesh Bank.

According to the data, at the end of Tuesday (July 28), the country's gross foreign currency reserve stood at 36.457 billion US dollars.

On the other hand, according to international standards, calculated using the IMF's BPM6 method, the country's net usable foreign currency reserve stood at 31.749 billion US dollars.

Bangladesh Bank regularly publishes reserve calculations using both methods. Gross reserve includes the central bank's total foreign currency assets, while the BPM6 method provides the actual usable reserve by excluding various liabilities and restricted assets.

According to the central bank data, the current reserve plays an important role in paying the country's import costs, managing foreign transactions, and maintaining overall economic stability.
