According to police and local sources, an ambulance carrying four members of the same family was heading to Faridpur Medical College Hospital from the Mostafapur area of Madaripur Sadar Upazila for medical treatment. On the way, when it reached the Shankorpasha area of Nagarkanda, Faridpur, the ambulance collided head-on with a BRTC bus heading towards Barishal from the opposite direction. The ambulance was crushed, and five people, including the driver, died on the spot.

The deceased are: Alamgir Hossain (58), youngest son of Haji Abdul Wahed; Jahangir Hossain (62), eldest son; Khushi Begum (45), youngest daughter; and Majeda Begum (50), wife of Jahangir Hossain, all residents of Balia village in Mostafapur Union, Madaripur Sadar Upazila. Additionally, the deceased ambulance driver, Kausar Hossain (25), is the son of Shahjahan Matubbar from Madaripur Sadar.
