IRI meeting with BNP on democratic progress

The discussions focused on IRI's current activities and future plans to further consolidate and sustain Bangladesh's democratic progress. Both sides exchanged views on various issues, including strengthening democratic institutions and increasing public participation. Besides, possible areas of future cooperation, experience sharing, and joint work were also discussed.

BNP's side was led by the Prime Minister's Advisor on Public Administration (with ministerial status) Md. Ismail Zabihullah. Also present were the Prime Minister's Advisor Mahdi Amin, Members of Parliament Barrister Joharat Adib Chowdhury and Mahmuda Habiba. IRI was represented by Senior Director Sonja Glockle, Resident Program Director John Fluharty, and Technical Advisors Amitabh Ghosh and Ruaksana Haque.
