South Korean delegation meets Expatriates' Welfare Minister and Deputy Minister
This afternoon, a South Korean delegation paid a courtesy call on Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury. The delegation was led by Han Un-suk, Director of the Ministry of Employment and Labor of South Korea. Expatriates' Welfare Deputy Minister Md. Nurul Haque was also present.

During the meeting, Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury said, Bangladesh attaches great importance to its long-standing friendly relations with South Korea. The Employment Permit System (EPS) has been established as an important and mutually beneficial framework in labor migration between the two countries. He expressed gratitude to the Korean government for its cooperation in creating employment opportunities for Bangladeshi workers in South Korea. He noted that from 2008 until now, 38,059 Bangladeshi workers have received employment opportunities in Korea.

Deputy Minister Md. Nurul Haque said, Bangladesh is interested in taking more effective steps in maximizing quota use, roster management, worker selection and Korean language training. He sought the Korean government's kind consideration to create employment opportunities for Bangladeshi workers in some additional sectors, including agriculture and livestock.

The head of the South Korean delegation, Han Un-suk, said they are sincere about ensuring transparency in receiving workers through the EPS system. He expressed interest in working jointly with Bangladesh to make the worker selection process fully transparent.

Present at the meeting were Secretary of the Expatriates' Welfare Ministry Md. Mokhtar Ahmed, Managing Director of BOESEL Mohammad Rashedul Haque, and other senior officials.
